Relative Pronoun

Relative pronouns adalah kata ganti yang menunjuk pada kata benda yang mendahuluinya (antecedent) yang berfungsi sebagai penghubung dalam kalimat. Relative pronouns biasa diletakkan di awal subordinate clause atau anak kalimat yang menunjukkan relasi terhadap keseluruhan kalimat.

We can say Relative pronouns are pronouns that used to combined two sentences into one sentences.

Kata ganti yang digunakan adalah: who, whom, whose, which, dan that.

a.) Who 

     Who can be used for people/human as subject

     Who can be used to replace the position of people as subject in the sentence.

Example: The girl is beautiful. She sits in the blue desk.

                Subject                      Subject

The girl whi sits in the blue desk is beautiful

b.) Whom

     Whom can be used for people/human as object

     Whom can be used to replace the position of people as object or complement in the sentence.

Example : The girl is Ratih. He like her.

                The girl whom He like is Ratih.

c.) Whose

     Whose can be used to replace the possessive pronoun in the sentence.

Example : The woman is very sad. Her bike was stolen last week.

                The woman whose bike was stolen last week is very sad now,

d.) Which

     Which can be used for thing/non human as subject or object.

Example : I Saw a cat. The cat was beaten by the man.

               I saw a cat which was beaten by the man.

                     Non Human

e.) That can be used to replace human or non human, subject or object in the sentences that    the meaning  as   same as who, whom, or which.
